| Description: | The Master of Engineering (MEng) and Master of Applied Science (MASc) in Mechatronics Engineering allows a student to study all of the main areas associated with mechatronics engineering. Mechatronics engineering is an interdisciplinary discipline featuring aspects of mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, software engineering, and controls. Opportunities exist for graduate students to explore these areas. Topics can vary widely and may include robotics, autonomous systems, bio-mechatronics, controls, and artificial intelligence and machine learning.
Ontario Tech University is one of a handful of universities in Canada that offers a dedicated program in Mechatronics Engineering, which integrates mechanical and electrical systems with real-time control, combining hardware with software to produce new devices such as consumer products, medical devices, high-tech automobile systems and robots.
The objective of the MASc program in Mechatronics Engineering is to prepare students for careers in research, development, and advanced engineering. Graduates of the program will be able to work as engineers in research and development or other areas in advanced technology companies or government agencies, or continue their education and pursue a PhD degree. The objectives of the MASc program are achieved through a combination of course work, supervised research, a research seminar, and a research thesis.
